Overview:

Western Growers is hosting Innovation in the Central Valley, a summit where farmers, researchers, technologists and agtech startups will come together to delve into the labor issues facing Central Valley agriculture and the specific technologies being invented to help solve those issues. The purpose of the event is to advance innovation by bringing agricultural technologies to farmers.

The summit will feature the following:

  • In-Depth Panels on Central Valley Ag Challenges; Automation; and Farm Data
  • 90-second Pitch Sessions from AgTech Startups
  • Showcase Exhibition of AgTech Startups/Technologies
  • Keynote Addresses on Innovation from Michael Harries of The Robotics Hub and Andra Keay of Silicon Valley Robotics
  • Student AgSharks Competition: Students from Reedley College and Future Farmers of America will hear pitches from agtech startups and team with venture capitalists to provide feedback (this special session will be held at 11:00am at Reedley College at 995 N Reed Ave, Reedley, CA 93654)

Agriculture has been at a labor deficit for more than a decade. This event is part of Western Growers’ effort to identify and accelerate technologies that help farmers solve their labor woes.

Michael Harries, Partner, The Robotics Hub

Andra Keay is the Managing Director of Silicon Valley Robotics, non-profit industry group supporting innovation and commercialization of robotics technologies. Andra is also founder of the Robot Launch global startup competition and a mentor, investor and advisor to startups, accelerators and think tanks, with a strong interest in commercializing socially positive robotics and AI, shared on “The Robot State” site.

Michael is a partner with ‘The Robotics Hub’, an early stage robotics and AI fund. His practice focuses on finding the bridge from emerging technology through market need to a viable business model. He also consults on innovation best practices and emerging technology/market trends.
